The SEO Brief, Stages and Monthly Reports

Last updated Sep 6, 2026

Activating

From the Marketplace: pick the client, switch on Managed SEO, tick the Local SEO add-on if needed, and add the service. There is nothing else to fill in. Storefront orders work the same way. The client receives a branded email, "Your SEO campaign: next step", with an Open SEO Manager button.

The SEO brief

Work does not start until the brief is in. It asks for:

  • Website URL
  • How we log in — WordPress admin or hosting access (needed for on-page and technical work)
  • Target keywords — the searches they want to show up for
  • Service area and Google Business Profile link (important with the Local add-on)
  • Competitors and goals

The client fills it in at your-storefront.com/seo-manager (linked from the email and from My Account → Manage). Once submitted you can read it under View SEO Brief on the service card in Active Services, and the campaign moves to Onboarding automatically.

Stages

StageWhat it means
Brief neededOrdered, waiting for the SEO brief.
Onboarding: audit & setupResearch, audit and the foundational on-page and technical work. First report within 30 days.
Campaign activeMonthly content, links and reports are being delivered.

Every stage change emails the client (branded as your portal) and sends you a short notice.

Monthly reports and updates

Reports, published posts and link-building notes are posted as Updates in the client's SEO Manager and emailed to them, so both of you can see what was delivered each month.

Change requests

The client sends requests from the SEO Manager — a new page to target, a keyword to add, a promotion to write about. Our team replies in the thread and marks each one open, in progress or done. If the client tells you about a change, point them to the SEO Manager so the team has it in writing.

Cancelling and failed renewals

Cancel from Active Services; the campaign runs until the end of the paid month. If a wallet renewal fails, the normal grace period applies; if it is not renewed the campaign is paused and the client is emailed. Reactivating resumes it with the brief and history intact.
